    "The Handmaid's Tale," based on Margaret Atwood's classic book, returns for a fifth season on September 14. The Hulu original series is set in a dystopian alternate reality where women are subjugated under a totalitarian government.

    Elisabeth Moss stars as June, a former handmaid who takes on the role of a rebel leader against the Republic of Gilead. The show also stars Yvonne Strahovski, Ann Dowd, O-T Fagbenle, Max Minghella, Samira Wiley, and Bradley Whitford.

    "The Handmaid's Tale" has received numerous awards, including an Emmy for outstanding drama series in 2017, and a Golden Globe for best drama series in 2018. The show holds an average "80% Fresh" rating on review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes. As of September 13, season five has a "67% Fresh" rating based on six early reviews from critics.

    How to watch 'The Handmaid's Tale'

    You can watch "The Handmaid's Tale"s season five on Hulu starting September 14. The first two episodes premiere at 12 a.m. ET. New episodes are then expected to follow every Wednesday through November 9.

    In addition to the new season, you can also watch seasons one through four of "The Handmaid's Tale" on Hulu.

    Hulu's basic, ad-supported plan costs $7 a month. For ad-free streaming, you can upgrade to Hulu's premium plan at $13 a month. Keep in mind, however, that Hulu will be increasing its ad-supported price to $8/month and its ad-free price to $15/month on October 1o.
